WAS VICENTE GONZALEZ SLEEPING DURING ECON 101?

Many folks in District 34 have commented that the candidacy of Vicente Gonzalez is an insult to their intelligence.  From Vicente's campaign paraphernalia, we learn that he is running for "re-election" in District 34.  That strikes most observers as curious, inasmuch as he was never elected to office in the counties that make up 34.

Be that as it may, even more out of the ordinary is his seeming dearth of any background in economics, and this is even more astonishing, given the fact that one of his committee assignments in Wahington is the Committee for Financial Services.

A quick perusal of the Gonzalez voting record shows that 97% of his votes on legislation have been straight down the party line with Nancy Pelosi and company.  And this includes voting in favor of the massive 3.5 trillion dollar Democrat infrastructure bill.

With our national economy recovering from the ravages of Covid 19 and its variants, putting Americans on the hook for 3.5 trillion dollars for "infrastructure" makes no sense at all.  Added to the damage already done in the first year of the incompetent Biden administration, such legislation would simply add more fuel to the flame of inflation.

Inflation is a dastardly thief.  Simply put, it amounts to a loss of value of a nation's currency.  It is a serious factor when there are are not enough goods and services available to keep pace with the demands of consumers.  Money loses value, and prices increase.When pices rise astronomically for basic commodities, so rises the fear of social instability.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows an overall across the board increase of  7% for basic goods and services during 2021, with more increases sure to follow for 2022. And so the reaction of Vicente Gonzalez and his socialistic Democrat colleagues is simply to throw up their hands and point their fingers toward any and all but themselves.

Let's take energy for example.  Administration policies have resulted in a decline of 2 million barrels of oil a day.  From energy independence,Vicente and his fellow Democrats have taken us to energy dependence.What in the name of reason does one expect when domestic pipelines are closed, drilling and production are discouraged and energy corporations are constantly being brow-beaten with higher taxes and more regulation?  Thus, for oil we are increasingly forced to look toward the ever dangerous Middle East, where lurk many forces which would like nothing better than to bring us to our knees.

At the same time, the Federal Reserve has been acquiring more and more mortgage bonds, keeping interest rates low but relentlessly pushing the cost of housing higher and higher.  Housing is now so expensive the middle class and individuals of lesser means are forced out of buying homes and renting apartments.

We could point virtually to all sectors of the economy, but you get the idea. Just visit your local HEB and count the empty shelves and compare this month's prices with those of prior months.  A good guess is that Vicente has not been shopping at HEB lately.

Vladimir Lenin once stated that the fastest way to destabilize a country is to debauch its currency. With the help of Joe, Nancy, Chuck and Vicente, we are fast heading in that direction.  Only by electing level-headed, grounded individuals as representatives of the people will we be able to defeat the elite political class and save our Constitutional Republic. And this means we should send interlopers and carpetbaggers like Vicente Gonzalez packing.  The sonner the better!
