THE FOURTH OF JULY
Lest we forget during the Fourth of July weekend, the revolution which spawned the exceptional republic in which we have been blessed to live came about in large part because of frustration over taxation and resentment at not having a stronger voice in the political process. During this 239th year of national independence, a time which is marked by advancing political correctness and disregard of our founding principles, far too many politicians have a tendency to use any means possible to thwart the public interest. A case in point is the flawed proposal for a Cameron County Healthcare District, a scheme which was clandestinely hatched in the halls of the Capitol in Austin for the welfare of self-serving politicians and for-profit healthcare interests and corporations. It is little wonder that the vast majority of Cameron County citizens did not see this coming down the pike; and, thanks to a vigilant few, the word is now going out to those who would see their tax-rates soaring.
In the spirit of America's founding, it is imperative that we strive to defeat a disastrous blueprint that would impose higher taxes and a strangling bureaucracy on taxpayers. It would seem that the odds favor the perpetrators, for they will have overwhelming sums of cash and the political amplification of established politicians. Nevertheless, we are organizing, and we know that our cause is just. Let us not be hoodwinked by those who would seek to perform a sleight of hand that could have nothing other than a bad ending for Cameron taxpayers.

Wow, yes! That's what it was all about! Right?
