WE HAVEN'T GOT TIME TO PLAY THE WAITING GAME!

OH, IT'S A LONG, LONG WHILE FROM MAY        TO DECEMBER,
BUT THE DAYS GROW SHORT WHEN  YOU REACH SEPTEMBER,
WHEN THE AUTUMN WEATHER TURNS THE      LEAVES TO FLAME,
ONE HASN'T GOT TIME FOR THE WAITING         GAME...............

Doug Kvalvog and I braved the heat this afternoon to visit the Cameron County Commissioners Court and the Elections Office as well.  To make a long story short,  there is no way the healthcare district proposition will appear on the November ballot.  But, once again, that does not mean we can strike our tents and abandon the field.

Doug certainly gave me a weird look as we walked back to his truck at the Court House, when I began reciting some of the lyrics from "September Song, " a Sinatra rendition of which I have memories dating from long ago. Those words were rattling around in my head and seemed to have relevance- at least to me - for the issue that has motivated us to come together. For many of us, it was May when we got a wake-up call from Sharon Batterson about the shenanigans that were playing out in the legislative halls in Austin. Since then, we have organized and find ourselves at the end of August.  Our next meeting of Friends of Cameron Residents will take us to September 12.  And, truly, we haven't got time for the waiting game, for we know that the proposition will come up and will go to a vote.  It is simply a matter of time.  It could appear in a special election, but that is not likely to occur in 2015.  But all of us need to continue to band together, marshaling our talents and resources for the challenge we will ultimately face.

Please remember: We haven't got time to play the waiting game!
