SOME THOUGHTS ON THE ORLANDO MASSACRE FROM JOHN BARHAM

Another Muslim atrocity in the United States, the latest one occurring at a gay nightclub in Orlando, should serve as yet one more wake-up call that political correctness is hazardous for the health and well-being of the United States and its citizens.

Americans may disagree on many things, but there are very few of us who would take the lives of individuals whose lifestyles are not in agreement with our  own.  Not so with Islam, a political movement masquerading as a religion which, through Koranic law, treats homosexuality as a capital offense.

Once again, we will be regaled by politically correct apologists, who will remind us that Islam is a "religion of peace."  However, nothing could be more incorrect and further from the truth.

As I learned more and more Arabic during my six years of residence in Saudi Arabia, I gradually began to understand the incendiary words spewing forth from loudspeakers attached to local mosques. Repeatedly, there were exhortations to violence against Christians and Jews and other groups deemed abhorrent by the teachings of Islam.  It is little wonder, then, that we have witnessed such abominations as have occurred on 9/11 and at such venues as Boston, Ft. Hood, Chattanooga, San Bernardino and, now, Florida.

In a diverse society priding itself on toleration, it makes little sense to continue welcoming individuals whose mindsets are infected by a triumphalist ideology more akin to the 15th century than the 21st.  And, for our leaders in Washington to continue to frame the ideology in terms of peace and love is foolishness and the height of naivete.

I can only say that it was astounding to view television interviews given by the Orlando perpetrator's father, who was obviously a supporter of the Taliban.  Is it not just a bit absurd that, while we send our young people to do battle with the Taliban, we continue to welcome its supporters to our shores?

It has been suggested that a temporary moratorium should be in effect for Muslim immigration. And, of course, our political correctors  have screamed to high heaven that such action would be a violation of the concept of freedom of religion.  However,  such small minds need a reminder that those who are neither citizens nor documented aliens have no claim on the guarantees of the First Amendment.

It is clear that a more realistic evaluation of Islam is called for by the leadership of this country, given the many acts of violence committed by its adherents.  And, may God save us all from political correctness!

  1. First class article. Appeasing our greatest enemies and welcoming more and more of them into our countries is exactly what they want and the very best way of helping them to a victory won by stealth - by massive immigration and enthusiastic procreation - and which was carefully planned by a top level meeting of Muslim leaders about thirty years ago in North Africa. Burying our heads in the sand won't get us anywhere!
