DON'T LET THE MONKEYS (I.E., POLITICIANS) PICK YOUR POCKETS! SUPPORT THE FRIENDS OF CAMERON COUNTY RESIDENTS GPAC!

In the upcoming battle to defeat the devious scheme that our local politicians refer to as the Cameron County Healthcare District, there will surely be an onslaught of money directed against us.  In a previous posting, it was pointed out that, for example, the notorious law firm of Linebarger, Goggan, Sampson and Blair will certainly have some dogs in the fight.  Already spending thousands in political contributions going to politicians who never even seem to have opponents in their elections, Linebarger, et. al. will likely be shelling out their big bucks to help their compadres to carry the day and to up your property taxes.)

 Another group that in all likelihood will be involved in the fray is the Border Health PAC, which is headquartered in McAllen.  With all kinds of medical money swelling their war chests, the odds are great that this group will be backing the proponents of the healthcare district.  Hopefully, you will remember that just a few years ago, the national spotlight was on Border Health and the politicians whose pockets they were filling in order to keep healthcare costs high in the Valley, in order for their contributors to keep milking the system with all sorts of bells, whistles and superfluous procedures and tests.  In fact, Texas Monthly had an expose in their pages on this organization, appropriately called "Mismanaged Care." Well, Mr. and Mrs. taxpayer, Border Health is still here, and they would like to see your tax money going into a healthcare district.  Therefore,  it is predictable that their moneys will start flowing down Hwy 83 and into Cameron County very soon.

 And that brings us to our need for your support.  We are regular citizens, working hard in behalf of others like us.  We are going to conduct a full-fledged campaign against the big-money interests.  Therefore, we need your contributions to the Friends of Cameron County Residents' GPAC.  Stand by for upcoming details.
